This research paper explores the roles of identity, performance, gender ideology, and humor in shifting the reception of ideologically-charged media in the digital sphere. This project performs a case study on social media personality Christian Walker, noting changes in the style and content of videos he has created over the years. By performing a critical discourse analysis supplemented by other theoretical frameworks, this research analyzes the strategies through which Walker reframes his content in a manner that is able to appeal to a wider digital audience that he was previously unable to connect with, opening up the possibility for new users to be pulled into a digital pipeline that otherwise would have been avoided.
