ABOUT

Anna Murphy holds a Master of Arts in English, concentrating in rhetoric and writing, from the University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Mississippi State University. Her professional interests are in editorial and publishing work, while her research interests are in digital rhetoric, focusing on online ideological pipelines, the capacity of algorithmic influence, and the rhetorical practices of digital communities. During her time at the University of Memphis, she worked with the Pinch journal as an editorial assistant, reviewing submissions, copyediting text, and creating promotional materials, alongside various administrative tasks. In her graduate education, Anna tailored her coursework to develop field-relevant skills such as substantive editing, copyediting, technical writing, digital design, and research methodologies. She is passionate about pulling back the curtain on the subtler effects of communicative practices – verbal or otherwise – in the ever-growing digital age, and hopes to utilize that knowledge in the professional sphere to cultivate texts that convey their meaning accurately without sacrificing honesty.
